But how can you use the AI assistant sensibly in your daily life without losing track of things or unintentionally revealing personal data? In this article, I will show you specific application examples, useful tips and important information for everyday life with ChatGPT.

Don’t forget data protection

Before you get started, one important point: data protection. Everything you enter in ChatGPT can potentially be saved and reused by OpenAI – even with a paid subscription. You should therefore only share sensitive data such as health information, financial details or personal family information with caution. For sensitive cases, more data protection-friendly alternatives or local AI solutions are more suitable.

ChatGPT is not infallible

Another important topic: the accuracy of the answers. ChatGPT can write convincingly, but is not always right. For example, when asked how to change a 12-volt battery in a car without a hood, ChatGPT still recommended looking under the hood. Therefore, check all statements critically, especially when it comes to health, finances or legal issues.

Concrete everyday examples

Decision support

Whether a new iPhone is really necessary or not – ChatGPT can help you create a list of pros and cons and list important decision criteria. The more context you provide (e.g. budget, service life, sustainability), the more relevant the suggestions become.

Health issues

ChatGPT can be useful for general information or accompanying research (e.g. on a heel spur). But beware: it does not replace a medical opinion. In combination with expert knowledge, however, it can have a supportive effect.

Documents and texts

Want to quickly write a letter of resignation or politely reword a message? No problem. ChatGPT can save you a lot of time, especially with standard texts. The results can then be easily adapted to your tone of voice or the person you are speaking to.

Cooking ideas & nutrition

No time but want to cook healthily? Ask ChatGPT for a quick, vegetarian and anti-inflammatory dish. Even better: Name existing ingredients and possible restrictions – ChatGPT creates suitable recipes in seconds.

Travel planning

Whether it’s a two-day velor route on Lake Maggiore or a family trip to Ticino – ChatGPT helps with initial orientation. The results are not perfect, but provide a good basis for further planning.

Language training & Custom GPTs

Would you like to learn Italian? Create a custom GPT or use ChatGPT as your language partner. They can correct you, motivate you and keep you at your level. Particularly effective: personal configurations where you can specify how you want to be addressed or what your interests are, for example.
