Create your own website without any programming knowledge – and almost entirely with AI? That’s exactly what I’ve been testing over the last few days. I compared two exciting tools with each other: Wix and Gamma. Both offer AI-supported functions to create websites – but with very different approaches and results.
In this article, I will show you step by step how the tools work, what their strengths and weaknesses are and which tool is best suited to your use case.
Wix: The website builder with AI boost
Wix is already known to many as a classic website builder. What is new, however, is the integration of an AI-supported assistant that helps you create the page – and does so quite conveniently.
This is how it works:
- Start via the chat: In the chat wizard, you specify what you need a page for – e.g. a community page with the name Nico Casa.
- Interactive conversation: The assistant asks you specific questions about the idea and structure of your website. You can skip questions or answer them specifically.
- Automatic creation: At the end, Wix generates a complete landing page – including a sensible structure, images and subpages such as a blog section.
My impression:
To be honest, I was quite pleasantly surprised. The generated page was not perfect, but it was a very good starting point. Particularly practical:
- Automatically generated subpages, such as a blog or a contact form.
- Responsive design: The site also looks good on mobile devices.
- Manual customization: Content can be easily changed using the quick edit function.
So if you want to create a complete website with several pages and modules, Wix is currently a very powerful helper.
Gamma: The one-pager pro
You may already be familiar with Gamma from the field of presentations – the tool shines with AI-generated slide layouts and content. But did you know that Gamma can also create websites?
Gamma can do that:
- Creation by input: You specify what you need a website for and Gamma generates individual sections (so-called “cards”).
- Focus on landing pages: Instead of a complete website, this usually results in a one-pager – i.e. a single page with several sections.
- Texts included: The AI directly creates text suggestions for the sections, which you can adapt or expand manually.
Gamma limits:
- No real subpages: Although you can generate additional pages (e.g. a blog overview), there is no integrated blog module.
- Reduced range of functions: Functions such as contact forms or navigation between pages are missing.
Gamma is ideal if you want to create a landing page with good text quickly and easily – for an event, a product or a first project launch, for example.
Conclusion: Which tool is right for your project?

My recommendation:
- For complete websites with multiple pages (e.g. community projects, blogs, portfolios): Wix
- For quick one-pagers with convincing text suggestions: Gamma
Both tools have their justification – depending on how complex your website project is and how much control you want to take over yourself.
One more note on usage:
You can start with the free version of both Wix and Gamma. However, you must take out a paid subscription if you:
- Want to remove the branding
- Want to connect your own domain
Both providers also offer you the option of buying domains directly through them or connecting your own domain externally.
