Mastering exams with AI: The ChatGPT prompt that every student needs!

*This post was created with a self-made CustomGPT based on Sophie’s latest YouTube video. You can find the link to the video at the end of this article.

When it comes to school, homework and exams, many parents (and children) quickly reach their limits – whether due to a lack of time, a lack of overview or uncertainty about certain topics. But this is precisely where artificial intelligence, especially ChatGPT, can be an amazingly effective aid.

In this Weekly Prompt, I’ll show you an AI prompt that you can use directly for your children – or even for yourself – to structure learning processes and make them easier to understand. The prompt is flexibly adaptable and even proved itself in direct use with children at my last family event.

The perfect prompt for students

The following prompt helps children to prepare for exams in a structured, understandable and child-friendly way. Here is an example:

**”I’m a child in seventh grade (or: I’m 13 years old) and I’m about to write an exam in history. The theme is: Swiss women in the First World War. I want to study over the next five days. Please help me:

  1. a simple curriculum for each day with short explanations and small tasks,
  2. simple explanations, as if you were explaining it to a child,
  3. a few small quiz questions at the end of each day for practicing,
  4. a short summary at the end with the most important points “**.

This prompt is highly customizable: you can change the subject, topic, grade level and time frame at any time. The four points mentioned can also be modified as required – depending on what your child needs or how you prefer to learn.

How learning with ChatGPT works

ChatGPT usually provides a structured response, which is often structured as follows:

  • Day-by-day learning plan: clearly formulated and clearly structured.
  • Short, child-friendly explanations: ideal for younger pupils.
  • Mini tasks & quizzes: playful and motivating.
  • Summary at the end: the most important points at a glance.

You can even extend the prompt by uploading learning materials directly (with the upload function of ChatGPT Plus). This allows the AI to work in an even more targeted way – e.g. based on real school documents or the official curriculum.

Attention: Thinking along remains mandatory!

An important note, especially for parents: ChatGPT decides what is important and relevant for the exam based on probabilities and general knowledge data. This means that not everything that the AI outputs automatically corresponds to the school examination material. Therefore:

  • Check and compare learning content: Does what ChatGPT suggests really correspond to what was covered in class?
  • Common sense and thinking: essential – especially when it comes to specific examination requirements.

Another creative tip

A particularly beautiful effect is created when the learning content is linked to the child’s interests. Example:

“Prepare a child for a physics homework assignment. First ask about the child’s hobby and then explain the content in relation to the hobby.”

The results are often surprising: physics using the example of a soccer pitch, math in the context of Minecraft or biology in a zoo. This makes learning not only more effective – but also really exciting.

Conclusion: Learning rethought

With the right prompt, ChatGPT becomes a personal learning coach for children – structured, patient and adaptable. Whether for history, math, biology or physics: the AI-supported learning plan helps to reduce exam stress and make learning more child-friendly.

Try it out, pass the prompt on to your children or grandchildren – or use it yourself when you’re about to take an exam. And don’t forget: feedback is always welcome!
