Using generative AI in the company – workshop templates and support

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has established itself as an enduring part of the modern technology landscape. While it has already become an indispensable tool for numerous companies and many people in the private sphere no longer want to do without the support of ChatGPT and similar text robots, the number of companies that do not yet use generative AI remains surprisingly high. Current surveys, such as a study recently published in Germany, show that the proportion of those who do not yet consciously use Generative AI is even higher than 50% in many regions.

Generative artificial intelligence: briefly explained

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) refers to artificial intelligence models that are designed to create new content in the form of text, audio, images or videos. This technology opens up a wide range of possible applications. For example, a short story can be written in the style of a particular author, the realistic image of a fictional person can be generated, a symphony can be composed in the style of a famous composer or a video clip can be created on the basis of a simple text description.

Generative AI can generate not only text, but also data in different formats. This capability opens up many possible applications, including the development of virtual assistants that generate human-like responses, the creation of video games with dynamic content and even the generation of synthetic data for training other AI models, especially in cases where collecting real data is difficult or impossible.

Generative AI: the possible applications are broad

The ability of generative AI to create new data instances offers a wide range of possible applications. Examples of this include the creation of virtual assistants, the creation of video games with dynamic content and the generation of synthetic data for training other AI models. Here are a few examples of the application of Generative AI:

  • Art and entertainment: the company “Deep Art” uses generative AI to transform images into works of art in the style of famous painters. In the music industry, the German company Jukedeck uses generative AI to compose personalized pieces of music that can be created in different styles.
  • Technology and communication: Swiss telecommunications provider “Swisscom” uses generative AI to produce human-like text responses in its chatbots. You can find a list of LLM chatbots on my blog.
  • Design and architecture: The German architecture firm “Graft” uses Generative AI to create unique and efficient floor plans.
  • Science and medicine: A major Swiss pharmaceutical company is using generative AI to find new active pharmaceutical ingredients and shorten research phases.
  • E-commerce: The German online retailer “Otto” uses generative AI to create personalized marketing content and address the needs of a wide range of target groups. Brack is also increasingly using generative AI both internally and externally. Find out more in my podcast episode with Marcel Rassiger.

Challenges during implementation

In addition to challenges related to technical and ethical concerns that need to be clarified before the introduction and during possible pilot phases of Generative AI applications, many companies are inhibited by the following questions, among others, when it comes to the introduction of Generative AI:

  • Which Generative AI applications are we starting with?
  • In which departments are we introducing Generative AI?
  • How do we empower our employees to use generative AI?
  • How do we measure the success of Generative AI applications?

Mastering challenges – introducing generative AI in the company

Examples such as the generative AI applications mentioned above show that it is possible, despite all the challenges and unanswered questions, to introduce generative AI in the company, to benefit from the opportunities of these new technologies and also to make the successes measurable.

My experience has shown that a step-by-step introduction with various pilot projects, accompanied by surveys, training courses and workshops, is a very good way to identify the right generative AI applications for your own company in the long term and to take your own employees with you on the AI journey.

Having introduced a large number of Generative AI pilots at companies myself, I have developed a small concept for the introduction of Generative AI.

The concept starts with an analysis of the current situation, includes various workshop formats, integrates pilot projects and, by continuously measuring the most important KPIs, ensures that only the appropriate generative AI applications are implemented and expanded in the company in the long term at the end of the generative AI introduction phase.

Download the Generative AI introduction concept

I offer the concept as a template for download. Interested companies can, if they wish, work through the entire concept themselves using the download templates and find and implement their own suitable generative AI applications.

The template is in Power Point format and can be used directly:

  • Questionnaire for employees to analyze the current situation
  • Template for evaluating the survey and presentation of results
  • Various workshop concepts and discussion questions for the company-specific development of generative AI solution ideas
  • Templates for the implementation of Generative AI pilot projects
  • KPIs for measuring success
  • Template for presentation of results incl. discussion questions

I recommend that companies take at least 2-3 months to work through the slides. Depending on the selected pilot projects, it may also make sense to plan for 6 months.

The Generative AI implementation concept in an all-round carefree package

As an alternative to the self-service download, I offer to support the entire introduction phase of Generative AI applications with my own knowledge and experience. I am happy to guide interested teams or companies through the introduction and development phase of Generative AI applications. With this option, we will go through the concept presented above together. Interested companies can book this “all-round package” with me for CHF 10,000.

As a rule, the entire all-round carefree package lasts 3 months. Depending on the company, however, it can also take up to 6 months or be significantly faster.

The all-round carefree package starts with an analysis of the current situation, which I carry out in the form of interviews and employee surveys and prepare for presentation. This is followed by an extensive ideas workshop in which the first generative AI applications are identified, prioritized and developed. Then comes the exciting part – the pilot phase, in which companies test the first generative AI applications themselves and are accompanied by me.

The pilot projects are then evaluated and, based on the experience gained, we jointly derive the next steps and further generative AI applications for your company.
