How is a good chatbot created? What do you need for a successful chatbot?
The answer: You need a good chatbot concept. The chatbot canvas, which I developed for chatbot concepts, helps to develop a complete and structured concept for chatbots.
If you use this canvas as the basis for your chatbot concept, you will prevent important steps from being forgotten.
With the canvas, you gradually go through all the important phases on the way to a successful chatbot concept.
The eight most important steps of the chatbot canvas are described below.
- Start with the challenges you, your employees and your customers face and then work out the use case for your chatbot.
- Then define the goals and target groups for your chatbot.
It is best to use a persona template to define the target group. For example this one. - Once you know the chatbot target group, define the chatbot persona and personality.
- Next, you define the features that the chatbot should contain. You may have a whole list of features in mind here. However, it is best to only enter the features for the first use case in the canvas. In this step, you also define further specifications, such as chat platform, NLP, etc.
- You can then decide on a suitable implementation tool based on the features.
- Don’t forget to set the framework for testing as early as the concept phase. Specify the test procedure precisely and define the test users.
- At the very end, think about which marketing campaigns you would like to carry out for the launch of your chatbot and enter this in the canvas as well.
- Finally, the canvas provides space for additional information, such as the schedule, team and other notes.
Use the chatbot canvas as a template for creating the concept and record the most important points here. In reality, there is usually not enough space to store all the information here, but it is a good overview to collect all the information and not forget anything.
