From a simple bag to an ingenious backpack

I appreciate the simplicity of cloth bags, but they were always impractical for me on the bike. This is the honest story of how my search for the perfect solution led to this bag, a wonderful friendship in Pakistan and an unexpected connection to Artificial Intelligence.

It all started on my bike.

It’s a simple habit: I almost always have a cloth bag with me. You never know whether you’ll want to buy something spontaneously. The problem: I’m almost always out and about on my bike. And anyone who has ever tried it knows that a full bag on the handlebars is annoying, unsafe and bounces around.

I thought to myself: “The simple ingenuity of a pouch is unbeatable, but I need the function of a backpack.” I wanted both. In one. The idea for a convertible backpack bag was born.

An idea needs a partner you can trust.

Having an idea is one thing. Turning them into reality is another. I remembered Usmail, who has often realized individual designs for me with his small business in Pakistan. Over the years, he has become a friend that I trust 100%.

I told him about my idea. We worked together until every detail was perfect – from the backpack function and a **secure zipper** to the **practical inside pocket** for small items. Usmail brought all his experience and creativity to the table, always with a shared commitment to quality and a fair, humane work ethic. This is how the final Adapt Pack was created.

The Adapt-Pack in detail

I designed this bag for my own everyday life. That’s why not a single feature is a coincidence.

Made for you, if you...

And then something unexpected happened

I gave the first bags to friends. The feedback was incredible. But how does a bag fit in with my main job as an AI consultant? Out of curiosity, I asked an AI for advice one evening. Something magical happened in this dialog between man and machine.

“You see a bag. I see a perfect analog metaphor for the digital world.”

That was the AI’s answer. She analyzed my story and showed me a connection that I hadn’t seen myself. Your backpack bag, she said, is a physical model for the three key principles of success in the digital world:

Adaptivity

The bag adapts to your everyday life. Just like a good AI learns to adapt to new data.

Scalability

It grows with your tasks – from small to large. A principle that makes digital systems successful.

Efficiency

It solves the problem in the simplest and most elegant way. The goal of every ingenious solution.

Frequently asked questions

As a backpack, it measures approx. 42 cm (height) x 37 cm (width) x 11 cm (depth). It only weighs around 450 grams.

A whole lot! It can easily hold a large shopping bag, your sports kit for after work or everything you need for a day at the lake. The volume is comparable to a normal daypack.

The outer fabric is highly water-repellent and protects the contents in a normal rain shower. However, it is not 100% waterproof in torrential rain or when submerged.

The best way to clean it by hand is with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Please do not put in the washing machine or tumble dryer.

Each Adapt-Pack is manufactured in my friend Usmail’s small factory in Sialkot, Pakistan. I am in constant contact with him to guarantee fair production and the highest quality.
