What challenges are there when introducing Generative AI in companies?
When introducing Generative AI in the company, managers and team leaders encounter various challenges. Possible challenges when introducing Generative AI are:
- Very fast-changing solutions: AI technologies are constantly changing. Companies must be able to adapt flexibly and expect that solutions that have been introduced will have to be adapted again in the near future.
- Vendor lock-in: Despite a rapidly growing market and a constant stream of new solutions and providers, companies have to decide on a provider and deal with the problem of vendor lock-in.
- Data basis: Generative AI models no longer require quite as much data as classic AI models, but a good data basis is still crucial for success.
- Costs: Of course, the introduction of new technologies also incurs costs. These cannot always be estimated from the outset.
- Employee resistance: While the introduction of Generative AI makes everyday working life much easier for many employees, others fear for their job security or are reluctant to change. This can lead to resistance on the part of employees.
You can read more about resistance in the company and how managers, team and project leaders can identify this at an early stage in the specialist book“Generative AI for companies – strategies, tools and best practices for successful integration“.
How do companies prevent employee resistance in generative AI projects?
In principle, resistance on the part of employees with regard to Generative AI should not arise in the first place. In the best case scenario, possible reasons for resistance are identified at an early stage and measures are introduced to prevent this resistance from spreading in the first place.
The following measures can help:
- Create understanding
To motivate employees to engage with Generative AI, it is essential that they have a basic knowledge of this technology. Generative AI is a branch of artificial intelligence that can independently create new content, such as texts, graphics or pieces of music. It is crucial to familiarize employees with how Generative AI works, its benefits and the possibilities of using it within the company. Through tangible examples, lively demonstrations and clear explanations, employees can be empowered to understand and appreciate the potential and areas of application of Generative AI.
- Clear communication
Transparent and open communication by management is crucial to increasing employee motivation and reducing fears. It is essential that the workforce understands that generative AI is intended to simplify and improve their activities, not to replace them. The benefits and applicability of generative AI must be demonstrated through clear and simple communication channels. It is advisable to organize ongoing information events, team meetings and feedback sessions so that employees have the opportunity to raise their questions and concerns and actively participate in the change.
- Training and support
In order to promote the use of generative AI by the workforce, it is crucial that they develop the necessary skills and know-how. To this end, training, workshops and further education programs should be provided to enable employees to familiarize themselves with the handling of generative AI and to deepen their skills in the use of this technology. It is important to consider individual learning needs and speeds in order to ensure efficient knowledge transfer and seamless integration. It is also advisable to offer support and advice services that provide employees with support in the event of any questions or difficulties and give them confidence in dealing with generative AI.
- Making successes visible
To maintain the motivation of the workforce, it is essential to clearly emphasize the successes and positive effects that result from the use of Generative AI. Using specific examples, studies and success stories, employees can see how Generative AI makes their work easier, improves processes and offers new, innovative approaches. Recognition and appreciation for the use of generative AI play an important role in increasing employees’ commitment and strengthening their trust in the technology. Continuous communication about the benefits of Generative AI and the active involvement of employees in the change process are crucial to ensure long-term acceptance and use of the technology.
You can find a detailed description of the individual measures in our book“Generative AI for companies – strategies, tools and best practices for successful integration“.
The book also features a guest contribution from Dr. Nina Reichert, Medical Director at Amgen Switzerland AG. She is a passionate scientist with many years of experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry in Switzerland. Her contribution provides a profound insight into the opportunities and challenges that the integration of generative AI in research-based pharmaceutical companies entails. Nina Reichert explains from her own experience how managers play a key role in the process of integrating Generative AI by designing new processes, equipping their employees for the future and taking ethical considerations into account.
What are suitable training formats for introducing Generative AI in companies?
It is important to promote the cultural change in the company that supports the acceptance and use of generative AI. Through a comprehensive and targeted approach based on understanding, communication, training and measuring success, companies can motivate their employees to use Generative AI and see it as a useful support and addition to their day-to-day work. By involving employees in the process, taking their concerns seriously and actively supporting them, companies can promote a positive attitude towards Generative AI and develop employees into active advocates and users of this forward-looking technology.
In-depth approaches for training courses are explained in the specialist book“Generative AI for companies – strategies, tools and best practices for successful integration“.
So-called ice-breaker workshops can be a first start for employees who have not yet dealt with Generative AI at all or only to a very limited extent. The aim is to sensitize and inspire employees to topics relating to generative AI in a light and rather playful way.
You can download a template for Ice Breaker workshops in your team via the following download link. The template is available for a fee to anyone who has not yet read the specialist book “Generative AI for companies – strategies, tools and best practices for successful integration“. (Incidentally, the use of the template is explained in the reference book).

About the specialist book“Generative AI for companies”
Our new book Generative AI for Business – Strategies, Tools and Best Practices for Successful Integration provides executives, team leaders and other decision-makers with an in-depth overview of the background, opportunities, challenges and best practices for the use of Generative AI in companies. I wrote the book together with my colleague Dr. Daniela Suter. It is available online and in bookstores.

Who is the book’s target audience?
The book is aimed at managers, decision-makers, project managers and anyone else who would like a general overview of the topic of generative AI. Readers of the book will get a comprehensive and broad overview of the opportunities and challenges of Generative AI. Readers will also learn which internal measures and steps are necessary to integrate Generative AI into companies in the long term.
What prior knowledge are readers expected to have?
Readers are not expected to have any specific knowledge. In general, the book is aimed at an open-minded target group that is interested in learning and trying out new things.
A general understanding of digitization topics is an advantage.
What do readers know after reading the book?
After reading the almost 300 pages, the target group, mainly managers and decision-makers, will be able to assess the opportunities and challenges of generative AI for their own company. Readers will also have understood which resources and measures are required within their own organization in order to introduce Generative AI in the company in the long term. At the end of the book, readers will be able to estimate the effort required to implement Generative AI in their company and take the necessary steps for a successful introduction of Generative AI in their own company.
How much time is needed to read the book?
The book comprises around 300 pages including illustrations. Depending on your reading speed, the book can easily be read over a long weekend. The book is available as a paperback as well as an e-book and can be read regardless of device or location.
Does the book also have practical examples?
Practical examples from companies that have already successfully introduced Generative AI are an important part of the book. Companies report on their experiences in a wide variety of generative AI projects.
The practical examples are supplemented by templates and guidelines, which readers can download free of charge from the Internet (link and password in the appendix of the book).
Does the book also contain information on data protection and the legal status?
We worked together with a lawyer to answer (data protection) legal questions. Martin Steiger not only answered important questions, but also wrote a guest article in which he clearly explains both the background to data protection and the current developments regarding the EU AI Act.
Does the book also deal with the technical implementation of Generative AI?
The book Generative AI for Companies is a specialist book that is written primarily from the perspective of a business economist. It mainly deals with economic and interpersonal aspects of the use of Generative AI. Nevertheless, the textbook on Generative AI in the company also includes a chapter on the technical functioning of artificial intelligence, large language models and generative AI. This basic knowledge is important in order to be able to properly assess the extent of the new technological developments.
Are specific AI tools also presented in the book?
To make the reader even more excited about the use of Generative AI, a large number of Generative AI tools are presented at the end of the 300-page reference book and their possible applications are described.
