The book Generative AI in Modern Medicine is a specialist book written mainly from the perspective of a business economist with a focus on medicine. It deals primarily with health-specific, economic and interpersonal aspects of the use of generative AI. Nevertheless, the textbook on generative AI in modern medicine also includes a chapter on the technical functioning of artificial intelligence, large language models and generative AI. This basic knowledge is important in order to be able to properly assess the extent of the new technological developments.
To make the reader even more excited about the use of generative AI, a large number of generative AI tools specifically for the healthcare industry are presented at the end of the 200-page specialist book and their possible applications are described.
We worked together with a lawyer to answer (data protection) legal questions. Ursula Uttinger not only answered important questions, but also wrote a guest article in which he clearly explains both the background to data protection and the current developments regarding the EU AI Act.
Practical examples from healthcare companies such as hospitals, doctors’ surgeries and pharmaceutical companies that have already successfully introduced generative AI are an important part of the book. Companies report on their experiences in a wide variety of generative AI projects.
