Many people use AI tools such as ChatGPT every day via the keyboard. But one function is often overlooked: voice input. This function can make everyday work much easier and even become indispensable in some situations.
Why voice input makes sense for AI tools
Over the last few weeks, I have experienced for myself how helpful voice functions can be. Due to a temporary restriction of my hand, typing became more strenuous at times. As a result, I have used voice input much more often and have realized how practical this way of working can be.
Voice control offers a simple alternative, especially when you’re on the move, want to record ideas quickly or want to avoid typing.
How voice input works
It is very easy to use:
- Open your AI tool.
- Click on the microphone icon.
- Submit your request directly.
- Sends the voice command.
The AI automatically converts your speech into text and processes the request as usual.
A practical example
Instead of laboriously typing in a request, you can simply say:
“I’m planning a two-day bike tour around Lago d’Orta at the weekend. Give me a suggestion for the tour and recommend places for breaks. The breaks should be in shady places and near supermarkets so that I can buy something to eat and drink.”
The AI then creates a structured route proposal within a few seconds.
The combination of voice input and written output is particularly practical. You can conveniently dictate your wishes and at the same time receive a clear, written response that you can read again or process later.
Voice input saves time and makes AI more natural
Many people speak much faster than they can type. Voice input is therefore particularly suitable for:
- Brainstorming sessions
- Project ideas
- Travel and leisure planning
- Summaries
- Creative texts
- Task lists
- Spontaneous thoughts on the road
Interaction with the AI often feels more natural and direct as a result.
Conclusion
The language function of AI tools is often underestimated. It can significantly simplify and accelerate the use of AI. Whether for convenience, to save time or due to physical limitations – it is worth trying out this function regularly.
Perhaps you will discover a new way of working that suits your everyday life better. Whether speaking, writing or typing: The important thing is that the AI supports you and makes your work easier.
