Determine generative AI maturity level of employees – template for maturity level measurement

The introduction of Generative AI in a company can be either smooth or fraught with difficulties, depending on its culture. Thorough planning and clear communication are essential for a successful start.

While the pioneers among the companies that have already introduced Generative AI still had to summon up a great deal of courage, numerous success stories prove that the initial investment usually pays for itself more quickly than initially assumed. Conversations with companies that were early adopters of Generative AI emphasize the importance of starting small in order to learn, improve and gradually expand its use.

In general, it has proven successful for companies to first develop a clear idea of their current situation. Such an inventory includes an analysis of the areas in which traditional AI is already being used. In larger companies, there is often a lack of networking between departments, which means that not all employees are aware of the existence of classic AI.

You can read more about the AI inventory and detailed measurement of a company’s AI maturity level in the specialist book“Generative AI for companies – strategies, tools and best practices for successful integration“.

A company-wide survey can provide a clear picture of the current use of AI. This should not only ask where AI is used, but also what experiences have been made with it. At the same time, it is helpful to create an overview of the current dialogs and processes in the company, whereby surveys or discussions with department heads are useful. The aim is to identify frequent and recurring dialogs or processes. The aim is not only to find out which conversations are held, but also their frequency and degree of standardization. Finally, this survey can be used to ask directly about current challenges or problems, as this may reveal optimal areas of application for AI solutions.
