A lot is changing at ChatGPT right now—and sometimes it’s not that easy to keep track of everything. New features are added, the interface changes, and depending on your subscription, different options may be available.
In my latest update, two new features stand out in particular: ChatGPT Sites and ChatGPT Work. At the same time, I’d like to take this opportunity to give you an overview of the current ChatGPT interface. That’s because, in addition to the new features, there are now many other options that perhaps not all of you are aware of yet.
ChatGPT Sites: Create Websites Directly with ChatGPT
One of the exciting new features is ChatGPT Sites. You can find this section by clicking “More” in the ChatGPT sidebar. There, you can create a new page or view pages you’ve already created.
The principle is simple: You describe to ChatGPT in a prompt what kind of website you need and what you hope to achieve with it.
I tested this myself and asked ChatGPT to create a website about me and my professional work, with the goal of attracting potential new clients.
Within about ten minutes, this turned into a simple but quite appealing website. Among other things, ChatGPT used my existing website as a reference, incorporating text and images, restructuring the content, and adding its own text.
What I found particularly interesting was that ChatGPT itself decided which topics to focus on and how certain pieces of content were linked together.
What types of websites is ChatGPT Sites suitable for?
Based on my initial tests, I see ChatGPT Sites primarily as a tool for quick drafts and temporary websites.
For example, if you have an idea for a new website and want to see what it might look like at first, you can create an initial prototype in no time.
This feature can also be useful for a temporary event page or a simple landing page.
However, for a long-term and productive corporate website, I would currently prefer other approaches. One issue, for example, is the specific URL of the pages created, which isn’t necessarily ideal for a professional online presence or search engine optimization.
One alternative might be to create your own HTML page with the help of an AI assistant and then upload it to your own web host. This requires a little more effort, but in return it gives you more control over the URL, hosting, and future development.
My preliminary conclusion regarding ChatGPT sites is therefore: This feature is great for a quick first draft or a page you need at short notice. To ensure your website remains productive over the long term, you should take the current limitations into account.
ChatGPT Work: From Chat to Work Environment
The second major new feature is ChatGPT Work. Depending on your account, you can switch between Classic Chat and Work in the web version.
ChatGPT Work goes beyond the typical conversation with an AI assistant. This area is more focused on using ChatGPT to carry out more complex tasks and workflows.
After my first few weeks with ChatGPT Work, I’ve already used it to tackle numerous more extensive tasks. What I find particularly interesting is the combination of different functions within a single work environment.
Your Own Writing Styles and Skills in ChatGPT Work
Skills are an exciting feature in ChatGPT Work. For example, you can develop your own writing style.
To do this, ChatGPT guides you through a dialogue and asks how you’d like your text to be phrased. Based on this information, you can then develop your own writing style, which you can reuse for future assignments.
This is especially interesting if you regularly create similar texts. Instead of explaining in every prompt how a result should be phrased, you can save specific requirements as a reusable skill.
With this, ChatGPT takes another step toward a personalized AI work environment.
Plugins connect ChatGPT Work to other systems
Plugins also play an important role in ChatGPT Work. Depending on the available integrations, you can use these to connect other systems to ChatGPT.
These may include, for example, Outlook, Gmail, SharePoint, or other work and cloud systems.
That opens up some interesting possibilities. If ChatGPT can access information from your existing systems, you won’t have to manually copy data back and forth between different applications for every task.
However, this is precisely where the issue of data protection becomes particularly relevant.
If you grant ChatGPT access to an email account, cloud storage, or other corporate systems, you should be aware of what data this makes accessible. Therefore, carefully check which systems you are connecting and what information they contain.
Create Documents with ChatGPT
Another feature that’s useful when working with ChatGPT: You can now have it create and format Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents.
The result may not necessarily be structured exactly the way you would design it yourself. However, the files may already be formatted in such a way that you can easily reuse them later.
Especially if you’ve mainly been using ChatGPT to create content and then manually transferring it to Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, it’s worth giving this option a try.
What else can ChatGPT do right now?
In addition to ChatGPT Sites and ChatGPT Work, there are many other features in the current ChatGPT interface.
It’s important to note that not all of these features were added with the August update. Some of them have been around for a while. However, since the interface changes regularly and new features are constantly being added, it’s worth getting an up-to-date overview.
Search for, organize, and find chats
If you use ChatGPT regularly, you’ll quickly accumulate a large number of chats. You can use the search function to find specific older conversations.
You can also pin chats that are especially important. This makes them easier to reach. It’s also a good idea to rename frequently used chats so you can recognize them more quickly later on.
You can also share chats via a link. Be sure to check what content is included in each conversation before you share the link.
Library and Scheduled Tasks
In the Library, you’ll find content that you’ve created with ChatGPT or saved there. For example, you can search for content and, depending on the available features, filter by files or images.
There is also a section for scheduled tasks. This is where you’ll see the tasks that ChatGPT is supposed to perform for you on a regular basis.
Such features can be particularly useful for repetitive tasks, because they mean ChatGPT is no longer limited exclusively to individual, spontaneous prompts.
Projects on broader topics
If you’re working on a specific topic for an extended period of time, projects can be helpful.
There, you can assign various chats and sources to a shared project. This is suitable, for example, for a client project, a more extensive concept, or another topic that you’re working on regularly.
Instead of having to painstakingly search through numerous individual chats on a given topic later on, you can consolidate the relevant content in one place.
Custom GPTs for recurring use cases
You’ll also still find the well-known custom GPTs in ChatGPT. These are custom-configured AI assistants that you can set up for specific tasks or use cases.
You can use publicly available GPTs or create and configure your own GPTs.
Especially if you find yourself performing a specific process over and over again with similar requirements, it can be helpful to have your own wizard.
Create images directly with ChatGPT
Image generation is now also fully integrated into ChatGPT. You can create images using the corresponding section or start the image creation process directly from a regular chat.
This makes it increasingly possible to create text, conduct research, work on documents, and produce visual content all within the same work environment.
Customize ChatGPT
It’s also worth taking a look at personalization. There, you can adjust various settings to customize how ChatGPT interacts with you.
For example, you can influence the tone or style ChatGPT uses and specify which other personal preferences should be taken into account.
Memory plays an important role in this process. If you enable this feature, ChatGPT can take information from past interactions into account. You can also manage your saved memories.
This can make collaboration more convenient. At the same time, you should also carefully consider what information you share with ChatGPT.
Don’t forget your settings and privacy policy
The more features ChatGPT offers, the more important the settings become.
There you’ll find options for personalization, plugins, notifications, data controls, storage, voice, and other areas, among others.
My advice, therefore, is not only to try out the visible features on the home page, but also to take the time to go through the settings.
You should be especially careful when it comes to sensitive data. Don’t assume that confidential information is automatically harmless just because you’ll delete the chat later. Therefore, you should not enter any data that does not belong in an AI system in the first place.
The same applies to connected systems: Connecting to email, cloud storage, and other applications can be very convenient, but it also expands access to data.
ChatGPT is now much more than just a chat window
If it’s been a while since you took a closer look at ChatGPT, it’s worth taking a tour of the current interface.
The main new features in my latest update are ChatGPT Sites and ChatGPT Work. Sites offers a very fast way to create initial web pages and prototypes. Work, on the other hand, shows how ChatGPT is increasingly evolving into a more comprehensive work environment.
In addition, there are now numerous other features: projects, custom GPTs, plugins, a library, scheduled tasks, image generation, personalization, reminders, and the creation of Office documents.
Not all of them are new—and you don’t have to use all of them.
It’s much more important that you know what options are available to you. Then you can decide specifically which features will actually help you in your day-to-day work.

And with all these possibilities, the same rule still applies: Use AI, try out new features, and automate wherever it makes sense—but always keep data protection and critical thinking in mind.
