OpenAI has introduced a new feature: ChatGPT Tasks. This tool allows you to create and manage reminders and tasks directly in ChatGPT. The feature is still in the beta phase, which means that there are still bumps here and there. Nevertheless, there are exciting possibilities – a reason to take a closer look.
What is ChatGPT Tasks?
ChatGPT Tasks is a function that allows you to create and manage tasks directly in the ChatGPT interface. It is currently only available to paying users and is being rolled out gradually. If you can’t see the feature yet, be patient – it will be activated gradually.
How it works
- Activation of the feature:
You can find the function by calling up ChatGPT and selecting “ChatGPT with scheduled tasks” from the options. If you cannot find the setting, you do not yet have access to it. - Create tasks:
You can directly create a task such as “Remind me on Monday”. Even with small spelling mistakes, ChatGPT usually understands what is meant.- Additional functions:
Once you have created a task, you can add further details:- A hint or additional information.
- Set an exact time.
- Save the task.
- Additional functions:
- Keep an overview:
You can find all your tasks by clicking on your profile picture and then selecting “Tasks”. There you have a practical overview of open and completed tasks. - Notifications:
You can activate notifications that appear either by e-mail or as desktop notifications. These will reliably remind you of your planned tasks.
First experiences: Lots of potential, but not yet a calendar replacement
Even if the feature sounds useful, the current beta version does not yet look like a replacement for established calendar tools. Especially for people who already use Google Calendar, Outlook or other apps, the added value is currently limited.
However, one advantage of ChatGPT Tasks in the future could be that you can spontaneously convert ideas into tasks while writing or brainstorming without having to switch applications. The feature could provide a real productivity boost here.
Conclusion: A promising first step
Even though ChatGPT Tasks is currently still in the development phase, it shows the direction in which OpenAI is heading: ChatGPT is increasingly becoming an integrated tool for everyday use. If you can already use the feature, you should try it out to get an impression. And if you don’t have access yet, you’ll need a little patience – the function will be activated gradually.
