What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a special chatbot that is based on artificial intelligence and was developed by the American company OpenAI. It stands for “Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer”. It sounds complicated, but it’s basically a smart computer program that can understand and write text. ChatGPT has been trained to respond to questions and requests and to act like a real conversation partner. It can be used in various applications, such as chatbots that can be found on websites or in other programs. With ChatGPT we can get information, gain creative ideas and get support with various tasks related to writing and understanding texts. I answered the question“What is ChatGPT?” in great detail in one of my last posts.
What are ChatGPT prompts?
ChatGPT prompts are like small requests or tasks that we send to the chatbot ChatGPT. These prompts are like hints or instructions for the chatbot to help us with various things. If we ask ChatGPT with a prompt, it can write us helpful answers or even texts that we need. The great thing is that we can use ChatGPT prompts to get ideas, improve texts or even invent new stories. It’s almost as if we have a clever writing helper at our side to help us write better and get information. Another term for prompts would also be “command”. You can find a brief overview of the most important prompts in my last post on prompts.
How can ChatGPT help with blog texts?
ChatGPT prompts are a helpful and new tool, especially for bloggers or authors, to simplify content creation or content research. With appropriate and well-thought-out prompts, bloggers and authors can save time and gain creative ideas for their posts while improving the quality of the content. The use of ChatGPT prompts opens up a new dimension in content creation and makes it easier to write informative and entertaining blog texts. However, bloggers must always be careful not to forget or unlearn their human skills. ChatGPT should only serve as support, not as a substitute for good authors.
ChatGPT for blog texts – A few useful prompts
If you want to use ChatGPT to support your blog texts, I have a few suitable prompts for you here. Please note that you have to adapt each prompt individually to your goals, target groups and expectations. My prompts are merely suggestions or serve as inspiration. The prompts become really successful when they are enriched with your content.
Prompt for first blog idea collection
You are a blog author. Help me find a topic. Generate 5 article ideas that might interest my readers on the <topic>. List the article ideas in tabular form with the narrative goal in one sentence in a second column.
This prompt is particularly helpful if you are still at the very beginning and are still unsure which topic you want to focus on today. ChatGPT gives you 5 ideas and you can even combine these ideas with each other. Of course, you can also choose a different display format instead of the table.
Prompt for headlines
You write a <type of text> with this content <content summary>. Now create a heading for the text with a maximum length of <Number of words>.
This prompt will help you find the perfect headline. It is important that you summarize the content as precisely as possible so that ChatGPT knows what your text is about.
Prompt for blog chapter
You are in the role <role ChatGPT> and write a blog post about <content topic>. Your target group is <Target group> and the objective of your text is <Text objective>. Please write me a rough outline with the most important chapter headings.
This prompt is one of my favorites. ChatGPT can usually create such chapter suggestions in a very good and structured form. You can then customize this list according to your wishes and based on your knowledge.

Prompt for formulated blog texts
You are in the role <role ChatGPT> and write a blog post about <content topic>. Your target group is <Target group> and the objective of your text is <Text objective>. Now I need a text for the chapter that deals specifically with the topic <Topic for which the text is to be created>. Please write me a text for exactly this chapter. The text should be <Text length> long.
I can say from experience that ChatGPT usually cannot formulate an entire article at once. The chatbot’s results will be much better if you ask it for individual text passages in sections.
Prompt for summary
Summarize the article in 3-4 sentences.
This prompt is initially very short. You are welcome to enrich it with individual information. For example, you could add a call to action or provide information on the desired spelling or tonality.
By the way, you can find a general overview with tips for good prompts here.
ChatGPT for blog texts – Important notes
The prompts shown above are of course only a first overview of possible prompts for generating texts. It is important that you always think for yourself and adapt the prompts to you and your target groups.
Furthermore, you should not simply adopt the texts that ChatGPT writes for you 1:1. First check whether the content of the generated texts is correct. You should then adapt the tone to your writing style, rewrite sentences, add text components and enrich them with your individual tips.
If you forget this important step of human integration, you jeopardize the quality of your blog on the one hand and on the other hand you also question the profession and tasks of a human blog author. Is that what you want 😉
ChatGPT prompts for blog texts – the mistakes you need to avoid
You can actually only make 2 mistakes when using prompts for blog texts:
- You formulate the prompts too imprecisely and give ChatGPT too much leeway.
- You rely 100% on ChatGPT and adopt the texts without questioning or adapting them yourself.
