ChatGPT und Generative AI Guidelines für Mitarbeitende in Gesundheitsunternehmen

ChatGPT and Generative AI Guidelines for healthcare companies

What is Generative AI?

Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that aims to create something new, such as texts, images, music or videos. Unlike other types of AI, which are designed to analyze existing information or perform specific tasks, generative AI attempts to create something new based on what it has learned from a large amount of data. It uses patterns and structures in the data to generate new content that is similar to what it has seen before. It is, so to speak, a creative machine that is able to think and create in a way that was previously only possible for humans. Generative AI is used in many areas, from art and entertainment to research and development.

Generative AI and ChatGPT

And now comes ChatGPT. ChatGPT is an example of a chatbot that uses GPT (Generative Pretrained Transformer) technology to generate human-like texts. Through training on millions of Internet texts, ChatGPT has learned to communicate in natural language and respond to a variety of prompts. While conventional chatbots could usually only communicate in very simple language and could only talk about very limited topics, ChatGPT can have really natural-sounding conversations and has a very broad range of knowledge and topics. ChatGPT can not only generate answers to questions, it can also create texts and much more for us. I explained the question “What is ChatGPT?” in more detail in one of my last posts.

Why do healthcare companies need guidelines for AI tools?

Various studies show that more and more employees are using AI tools to support their work. The article ChatGPT and AI in the doctor’s surgery or the article Generative AI in the patient journey clearly show that the new technologies also bring a lot of added value for healthcare companies. However, if AI tools are not used correctly, there are considerable security and data protection risks in addition to a loss of efficiency and waste of resources. The introduction of AI guidelines is therefore becoming increasingly important. Even if these guidelines are not intended to serve as a complete restriction, but merely to ensure the correct and ethically justifiable use of artificial intelligence.

Who are ChatGPT and Generative AI Guidelines suitable for?

Guidelines on the use of ChatGPT, Generative AI and other AI tools are important for everyone who uses these tools. In concrete terms, however, the individual guidelines and application tips differ depending on the sector and the area of responsibility of the individual employee.

Industries such as the healthcare and financial sectors, in which the protection of personal (health) data usually plays an overriding role, benefit particularly from suitable guidelines. This means that specific regulations can also be taken into account and the information is precisely tailored to the area of application of the respective employees.
