*Thisarticle is based on a YouTube video by Sophie Hundertmark, an expert in the use of artificial intelligence with a focus on chatbots and strategic AI applications in companies and public institutions. Sophie is a researcher and lecturer at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and is doing her doctorate in Conversational AI at the University of Fribourg. The blog text was created using a custom GPT model that was trained on Sophie’s video content, language style and expertise. The result is well-founded, up-to-date articles based on Sophie Hundertmark‘s own expertise.

More and more of my contacts are currently switching to Claude. That’s why today I want to show you how you can work with the chat assistant Claude – completely in the free plan.
Yes, you read that right: All the functions I am presenting to you here work without an upgrade. So if you want to test whether Claude suits your workflow, you can get started right away.
The surface of Claude at a glance
The structure of Claude is very similar to ChatGPT. You have:
- A classic chat window
- One model selection (standard model is preset)
- The ability to upload files
- A screenshot function
- Access to your previous conversations in the left sidebar
The system responds very quickly even in the free plan and provides surprisingly comprehensive answers.
You can:
- Copy answers
- Give feedback
- Have it touched up, for example with “Make it shorter”
This iterative way of working is extremely valuable. Instead of reformulating everything, optimize your results step by step.
Settings and integrations: This is where it gets exciting
In the settings area you can:
- Customize the language
- Personalize your account
- Manage notifications
- Connect external tools
Claude can be linked to the following services, among others:
- Google Drive
- Gmail
- Google Calendar
- Gamma
And this is precisely where one of the most exciting functions lies.
Create presentations automatically with Gamma
I connected my free Gamma account to Claude and tested the following prompt:
“Create a presentation with five slides on my topic.”
What happens then?
- Claude researches relevant information.
- The system uses the Gamma functionalities.
- A structured presentation is created automatically.
- You can further optimize them with “Edit in gamma”.
This means that research, structuring and visual processing are virtually automated.
Especially for:
- Lectures
- Pitches
- Courses
- Strategy meetings
this can save an enormous amount of time.
However, it is important to always check and validate content critically – especially when it comes to personal information.
Projects: Structure for complex workflows
Claude also offers a project function. This allows you to bundle and structure chats thematically – similar to project folders.
If you:
- works on several customer projects
- Research projects supervised
- different topics developed in parallel
this structure helps you to maintain an overview and work more efficiently.
Artifacts: Small apps instead of just chat
The so-called artifacts are a real highlight.
While custom GPTs in ChatGPT are specialized assistants, artifacts in Claude go one step further: they have their own interface. You could almost say they are little mini-apps.
I had an Italian quiz created as a test.
The procedure:
- I indicate that I would like to create a quiz.
- Claude asks questions, for example about the number of questions.
- The system automatically programs an interactive application.
- The questions can be clicked through directly.
- The artifact can be published and shared via a link.
This opens up new possibilities for:
- E-learning
- Onboarding processes
- interactive training courses
- Small internal tools
So you’re not just working in classic chat mode here, but also creating functional applications.
Claude vs ChatGPT – is the switch worth it?
The systems are very similar in terms of their interface. Anyone already working with ChatGPT will quickly find their way around.
I currently see Claude’s particular strength in:
- integration with Gamma
- the artifacts with their own interface
- the structured project organization
My tip: Just give it a try. With the free plan in particular, you can test which system suits your workflow better without any risk.
In the end, it’s not about which tool is “better”, but which one makes you more productive.
Conclusion
Claude is more than just a chatbot. Through integrations, project structure and artifacts, the system develops into a versatile working environment.
If you:
- want to automate presentations
- want to create interactive content
- want to integrate AI more strongly into your daily processes
then a test is definitely worthwhile.
Experiment, compare and find out which setup really makes your work more efficient.
