4 weeks in Berlin – What I have to say

Today I realized once again how quickly four weeks can pass. Since my Bachelor’s degree, which I completed in Berlin, I’ve only been to the German capital for a long weekend at most. Now, after about nine years, I have rented an apartment in the middle of Berlin Mitte for four weeks and have been working and enjoying life from here.

And this is what I would like to tell you:

From the world of chatbots

1) Sven from OMQ had offered me the use of their office. So it makes sense for me to take a closer look at their software. OMQ aims to use artificial intelligence to automate the entire customer service process. They have therefore not focused exclusively on chatbots, but on customer contact points in general. Thanks to OMQ, companies such as ETH or BabyWalz can now automate all contact points (e-mail, chat, form, etc.) with an FAQ database. Great software. I even got demo access as a parting gift. Feel free to contact me 😉

2 I didn’t realize how high the demand for chatbots in recruiting already is. At a good café with Luc Dudler, the founder of Jobpal, I was taught better. With their software, they focus exclusively on chatbots in recruiting and have already impressed customers such as Telekom, VBZ (in Zurich), Zalando and others.

3. although I was in Berlin, I didn’t break off contact with my “Swiss friends”. So I was able to be there digitally when aiaibot launched the new Enterprise offerings. Thanks to the robot component, aiaibot now continues to offer a super-simple chatbot builder and at the same time processes can now be automated in a short time. This saves time and money and makes an enormous number of new use cases possible. Of course, I have already tested the first cases. Get in touch with me if you want to know more.

4. for all those who want to start with a live chat, Optimise-it seems to be a great partner! I have had a lot of contact with Dennis Utter (CEO Optimise-it) in recent weeks and we were even able to hold a workshop together.

5. away from the software, towards the chatbot content. In addition to the OMQ office, I also spent a lot of time at Tinkerbelle’ s office. Here I worked primarily with the founder Oliver Oest. I realized that when it comes to in-depth chat dialogues or promoting the bot with a clever marketing campaign, it makes sense to work with a communications expert like Oliver. And at the end of my time in Berlin, I was even able to motivate him to visit Switzerland in November.

6 Although I was “alone” in Berlin, my team has grown. Roxane Steiger joined my team in August and is mainly responsible for the podcast and our new Instagram page. She works from Zurich. And Albert, who like me is from Germany and has also been in Zurich since October, is brand new. He is writing his final thesis in the field of chatbots in recruiting and is extremely good at thinking along, asking constructive questions and has already created the first bot concept in his first week.

And here are a few more messages from outside the chatbot world

1) I had a great afternoon with brand strategy consultant and AI expert, Prof. Dr. Claudia Bünte. She is a really great person. Her book on AI in China is brilliant and if anyone needs advice on brand strategy, ask her.

2 I did a jewelry workshop and met the jewelry teacher and designer privately a few times afterwards. Mihaela Carvan is a very caring woman and I can only recommend her jewelry. You can find it here.

3. actually, I’m really NOT the shopping type. This is already shown by the fact that my suitcase is emptier on the return flight than on the outward flight… BUT, when it comes to unique bags, I am helpless. I got to know Ruth. She sews bags from old leather sofas and even makes bespoke items. Find out more here.

4 I finally went to ballet training again and it was incredibly good for me! I will now go to ballet classes in Zurich more often again.

5 I had postcards printed with the picture of my book and sent them to dear friends and colleagues. The feedback was something like “Wow, I don’t know when I got the last card”. And I love writing letters. If you have not yet received a card and would still like one, please send us an e-mail with your postal address.

6. there are real friendships that simply exist. I’ve hardly seen my good friend from university, Franziska Kühnemann, since my Bachelor’s degree. And the WhatsApp or letter contact was also really low. Now we saw each other at least once a week and it was just like before. Simply beautiful and so natural.

7. human relationships are good for you. There is a very small café next to my apartment. The owner knows the whole street and he quickly got to know me too. Seeing the same happy face every day gave me a bit of a feeling of “home”.

Finally, I would like to thank all the Berliners who made this time so unique. I would also like to thank all my Swiss colleagues and friends who have held all the meetings and workshops with me digitally over the last 4 weeks!
